nature

With the release of Earth, the 8 track Nature EP is complete.  In a sense, it is true to its name: as nature, sprawling and uncompromising.  My fear is that it asks too much, is too hard to make acquaintance with.  Does nature similarly ask more than we can give, or is that the nature of ourselves?  For this, too, I have named the collection.  But we can only write what we are given.  We cannot give what we don't have.  And I believe there was no way to go forward into my next work, Fables, without expressing these first songs writhing within.  That is my nature.  My hope is that someone somewhere will have a moment in which these songs say just what they have felt, and it will be like the bend in a wooded trail, an outcropping of rock, vistas opening, upward soaring.
